Well what a weekend for TBEC !! Austin Arena a fresh new venue never before used for motorcycles. TBEC track building team had to pull out all the stops to create a track and what a track it was, fanatic !!!! with everything to challenge the Hare & Hound rider. Hills, valley’s, off camber slopes, grass fields and much much more. Setting up Friday and Saturday we had very high winds so we had to corral the start gazebo with vans for protection and the tape had to be low to ground or we would have lost the lot. Early Sunday morning saw heavy rain showers but with breaks in the cloud we hoped for the best.
Drama at the start with our timing equipment shorting out due to the wet just after the first few rows got away, with the remainder of riders forced into a short 15 minute intermission whilst the TBEC crew made what is commonly known as a “bush fix” to get it up and running again, this then lead to the rest of the riders going off all together, that was fun!!
Mother nature then decided to dump a load more water on us which made the track conditions exceptionally slippery to point of being unsafe. Our medical crew then received a sharp uptake of custom to the point where they were almost overwhelmed. First half session complete and with impending rain due, track conditions worsening and for the safety of riders and marshals TBEC took the very difficult decision to end the event at that point.
We would like to thank all our riders for their support and understanding with our decision and hoped everybody enjoyed what racing we managed to provide. Please be patient as we now have to unfold the start drama to produce a set of results!!
